Virtual assistants are developing rapidly to provide users with more capabilities and value. They are usually cloud-based programs that require devices and applications connected to the internet to work. Three of these applications are Apple device Siri, Microsoft device Cortana, and Android device Google Assistant. Google Assistant was initially only on Android phones, then came to the Google Home smart speaker and is now compatible with every device, and is usable from TV lounge to the bathroom.
The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2019) was held in Las Vegas on 7 January 2019, the most important technology event in the world. During the event, different interesting devices with Google Assistant were announced.
Specifically designed for bedrooms, Lenovo’s Smart Clock is a more compact, smart display with the right alarm size for calendar event information. GE has produced a 27-inch touch screen that is attached to the kitchen theme and mounted on top of the stove. The touch screen can be used as a more or less fully-fledged Android device for anything from looking for recipes to watching Netflix while cooking.
Although most of these products are designed to control devices at home with Google Assistant, the JBL Link Drive and Anker Roav Bolt are designed to bring the voice assistant into the car. Both can be plugged into the cigarette light and output audio to the stereo of the car using either a Bluetooth or a traditional 3.5 mm jack. Many other Google Assistant gadgets were announced at the CES. Lutron had a new Google Assistant fan controller, Daikin had a smart thermostat, Gourmia announced three new assistant-compatible kitchen appliances and Orbit added Google Assistant support for its smart sprinkler system.
Google had an E Ink prototype screen that could give commands from an intelligent speaker. There are already a wide variety of Google Assistant devices, but a small Google prototype suggests that many more devices could soon be on the way. At the show, the company showed a small E Ink screen, a prototype of what Google hopes will one day be a completely new class of smart devices. Google Assistant is such a great success that the company has announced that it will be installed on 1 billion devices soon.
