GE Renewable Energy combines the widest ranges of energy products and digital services in the renewable energy industry. Incorporating onshore and offshore wind, blades, hydro, and innovative technologies such as hybrid systems and concentrated solar energy, the company has installed over 400+ gigawatts of global capacity to enhance and clean the world.
The company also has eminent financial service solutions that are also evolving in the market. Recently, GE has decided to combine both renewable energy and financial services together to create new business insights. For this purpose, GE Renewable Energy and GE Energy Financial Services (GE EFS) have partnered with their flagship onshore wind project in Sub-Sahara Africa to provide technology and advisory support. The 100-megawatt (MW) wind energy project Kipeto Energy Plc (Kipeto) is located in Kajiado, Kenya, south of Nairobi.
GE Renewable Energy will supply the Kipeto project with 60 of its highly efficient GE 1.7-103 turbines, providing power to the region’s approximately 40,000 homes. The 100MW Kipeto wind power project will make a significant contribution to Kenya’s Vision 2030 and Big Four Agenda by providing clean energy to the national grid. “The Kipeto project is an important step forward in providing affordable, reliable clean energy to the region, and meeting Kenya's renewable energy goals,” says Peter Wells, GE’s Onshore Wind Regional Director for Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. The Kipeto project was designed and supported by GE with Craftskills Wind Energy International. GE Renewable Energy will also provide wind turbine operations and maintenance services.
Many successful stories exist in regard to mergers and acquisitions in the business world today. Especially, GE, as a promising technology organization in the market, is indeed expected to achieve great outcomes from this recent collaboration of GE-Renewable Energy and GE-Energy Financial Services as well as the partnership with flagship onshore wind project in Sub-Sahara Africa.
