Digital drilling technology has been evolving, delivering integrated downhole drilling system for drilling digitalization, and automation.
FREMONT, CA: "This is only the beginning of drilling optimization and automation. PDS is a catalyst for future technologies and we are excited to be part of the story. PDS is a reliable foundation we can work with," says Dr. Harald Freissmuth, Group CEO, TDE Group. A modern data-driven leading oil and gas drilling industry, TDE Group, has launched Powerline Drilling String (PDS) drilling with electrified wire pipe, driving automation and optimization. The company believes that improved construction costs and better performance for wells can be achieved with drilling optimization and automation. It relies on more significant amounts of solid data and their bi-directional exchange between the surface and downhole tools. The bi-directional transmission of data requires electrical power. Modern technologies are not advanced enough to meet these criteria of power and data.
TDE's PDS is leading the way to real-time optimization and automation, delivering high-speed data telemetry system and electrical power. PDS does it without batteries, repeaters, or turbines reliably and affordably. "This is a significant achievement for TDE and the drilling industry. Multivendor BHA tools can now be operated using electrical power from the surface without batteries or turbines. The quality of the downhole data streamed at 500,000 bit/s is unprecedented. A gap has been filled and the digital age can start. I want to thank the PDS Team and our partner Aker BP," says Dr. Abdelrhani Lamik, Group VP, PDS. A test was held for two weeks and TDE Group, partnering with Aker BP, which was completed successfully within the given period. PDS met every test criteria using standard pipe handling procedures and equipment under field conditions successfully.
As a part of testing, TDE's developed iPDS string sensors were operated and also downhole data was processed and displayed in real-time in several locations globally using proprietary web-based TDE software. "Combining the PDS technology with multiple third-party sensors is a major step towards an open downhole eco-system that will affect the MWD/LWD market in a positive way," says Prof. Dr. Gerhard Thonhauser, Chairman and CTO, TDE Group.
TDE Group is a leading independent, modern, and data-driven oil and gas drilling industry into the digital age. The company aims to improve drilling and production performance of oil and gas wells. It represents the product divisions of data-driven intelligence for the oil and gas industry integrated with the network of global company locations. It is shifting the drilling environment from surface centric data models, to fully integrated downhole predictive models. It is based on high quality real-time downhole data analysis and aggregation. TDE Group is the only company that is providing digital drilling intelligence to anticipate and solve downhole challenges based on real-time data saving its client's precious time and costs.
